The culmination of four years of discipline and dedication.

As a senior at Howard University (HU!), I’ve been doing a lot of reflection on my time at the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts. Four years of productions, classes, semesters and friends, but what sticks out most recently is the Department of Theatre Arts’ Senior Capstone Performances.

Four nights of back-to-back 20-minute one-person shows. For me, it was my first time putting together a cabaret-esque performance featuring myself.

I decided to put together “To Nobody’s Surprise”, beginning with an original poem of the the same name and exploring how obsession and love can have dangerous consequences for everyone involved. Check out this short clip from this performance where I sing “The Next Ten Minutes” from Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years.
